Saving & freezing fresh homegrown basil. This has been my favorite way (other than pesto) to save and use my basil from my summer garden. I harvested this basil last September! To freeze fresh basil: 6 cups of cleaned basil leaves 3 tablespoons of olive oil Toss together and pack them as tightly as you can ;about 6 cups worth) into a quart size bag and throw them in your freezer!!! This works so great and I love adding this to soups and pasta sauces all winter long and it tastes just like fresh
