Slow Motion Splash. Harold Moyers splashing in slow motion on USS Murphy (DD 603). The Benson-class destroyer collided with the tanker SS Bulkoil in 1943. The forward third of the destoryer sank. Murphy’s bow now lies in 260ft/79m of water about 70 miles off the coast of NJ. The aft-portion of the destroyer was towed to port and the bow was later rebuilt.
