First day of 2023 is going well Eve slept pretty much since her rescue 7pm last night to noon today. I gave her some food and hay but in the end it’s the grass she started munching on Most beautiful sound in the world (only if wombats chew that is) She is understandably very scared and acting wild (fear) so i interact as little as possible but keep an eye through cameras to make sure she started eating and is doing ok #wombat #2023surprises #wombatlove #wildliferehab #wildlifecarer #wombatrescue

Update on wombat Eve... The wombat rescued from Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra - we kept her for observation for 2 days and then found her a vacant burrow. This is what we call a hard release as she is wild (not hand raised) and do not require a soft release enclosure or a gradual return to the bush We do have to try and ensure her safety as far as possible though and this burrow has been monitored for a while. That said, in later footage I saw a male wombat interested in her (or the burrow) so
